Master Potter Workshop: A Day with Julia Galloway

I just sign up for Julia Galloway's workshop in May,

can't wait for it!! 

She is defiantly one of my favorite potter 

and the last time that I talked to her I felt I learned so much in a really short conversation. 

And I am so looking forward to this workshop.

Julia Galloway, Director of the University of Montana School of Art, will be making and decorating pottery. She will discuss pottery forms, wheel throwing and altered forms, slip surfaces, cone 6 glazing, idea development and historical influence. Enjoy a slide show about Julia’s work and a talk about historical pottery and how ideas have developed over time. Big talkers, shy potters and technique seekers all welcome! Doors open at 9am. New Toy!

Right before I go back to Taiwan, I bought a used slab roller for myself.

I always wanted a slab roller. And now...I got one!!

It have been sitting in my studio waiting for me to get back from Taiwan.

Since I got back I have not been working, because of the jet-lag, classes and other excuses. 

But this whole week I told my self it's time to get back to work, 

so I try to figure out the best way I can fit the slab roller and other equipment.

Today...I finally use it for the first time in my studio:-)

I have to say, I kind of miss using my good old rolling pin.

But I think I will get use to this awesome addition to my equipment list very soon.

And beside the slab roller I also got something from Jason... I will post later on.

My studio now is getting better and better, yay!!! 

Vacation time in Taiwan.

I know I have been slacking updating my blog,

recently I took a trip back to Taiwan to see my family, I haven't been back to taiwan for a year,

so it was really nice back to home and just do NOTHING!

This is my niece she is two now, I spent most of time play with her during my trip.

beside doing nothing and playing with my niece I also eats really well every meal.

anyway, I am back to oakland now and I am all charge it ready to work!!

Daily routine

If you are a follower on my facebook page, you will know I am really into the live stream of the birds.

It have become my daily routine to check the on the birds. This morning, one of the egg hatched!!

I know I haven't been writing about my studio life for awhile.

It's because I took a long break after the holiday sale.

And now I think I am ready to work!! 

Yay, studio time!!

Empty Bowl Marathon!

The Berkeley Art Studio would like to give to those in need, and we need
your help.  We will be participating in The Empty Bowls Project.

The Empty Bowls Project is "a grassroots movement to help end hunger." 
The premise is simple: potters make bowls and then sell the bowls with
soup in order to raise money for a hunger charity.

The studio would like to participate in this worthy project.  During the
week of January 17th the Berkeley Art Studio will be open for people to
come make bowls.  The studio will donate clay and glazes.  If you want to come and make some bowls with us please let me know or call ASUC art studio :-)


And I will be in studio on Jan,18 and 19th. If you have time please come join us for this meaningful event.

Tomorrow is last day of the year, look back this year I am really thankful for everything 

And I have been thinking what I can do to give back.

So I decided donate some money to animal organization that help with animal and environment.

But it become really hard for me to pick which one?

WWF or the Nature Conservancy?

 I did some research for it.

so I checked their webstie and Charity navigator 

and their review came out about the same.

In the end I pick WWF for this year, next year I will try the nature conservancy.

The reason I picked WWF is because they have something call Panda Page.

which can be a donation page for people comes to my page wants to donate money to WWF.

well...I still have to learn about that little bit more before I can really talk about it :-P

anyway, next year(in two days) I want to do more!!

not just for my pottery, but for animals too!

Renegade Craft fair this weekend!!

I had been really sick after the Bazaar Bizarr, but I have been resting till this moment.

well, this is the last show of the year!! 

I can't wait to do it!!
