After I got back from Taiwan, (I was there for 10 days for my sister's wedding)

I got this surprise in my mail box!

A Fan mail!!!

It's so sweet that someone really like my work that she wrote me a post card, so sweet!!

I have been not very motivate in my studio work because of all the extra weight and prepping for the new arrival (in 10 weeks, yaks!!) but I will keep this card in my studio to remind my self to keep working even the baby is born!!

Anyway, it really made my day, and I want to say thank you to Sara for sending me this lovely postcard!!

By the way, I haven't been good at keeping update for my blog, as you know why...

but Jessy Lu launch a project on kickstarter, it's really cool. I think she is so great at the blogging and keep her idea really focus and clear. If you want to support this project, please pledged!!

Master Potter Workshop: A Day with Julia Galloway

I just sign up for Julia Galloway's workshop in May,

can't wait for it!!

She is defiantly one of my favorite potter

and the last time that I talked to her I felt I learned so much in a really short conversation.

And I am so looking forward to this workshop.

New Toy!

Right before I go back to Taiwan, I bought a used slab roller for myself.

I always wanted a slab roller. And now...I got one!!

It have been sitting in my studio waiting for me to get back from Taiwan.

Since I got back I have not been working, because of the jet-lag, classes and other excuses.

But this whole week I told my self it's time to get back to work,

so I try to figure out the best way I can fit the slab roller and other equipment.

Today...I finally use it for the first time in my studio:-)

I have to say, I kind of miss using my good old rolling pin.

But I think I will get use to this awesome addition to my equipment list very soon.

And beside the slab roller I also got something from Jason... I will post later on.

My studio now is getting better and better, yay!!!

Vacation time in Taiwan.

I know I have been slacking updating my blog,

recently I took a trip back to Taiwan to see my family, I haven't been back to taiwan for a year,

so it was really nice back to home and just do NOTHING!

This is my niece she is two now, I spent most of time play with her during my trip.

beside doing nothing and playing with my niece I also eats really well every meal.

anyway, I am back to oakland now and I am all charge it ready to work!!

Empty Bowl Marathon!

The Berkeley Art Studio would like to give to those in need, and we need
your help. We will be participating in The Empty Bowls Project.

The Empty Bowls Project is "a grassroots movement to help end hunger."
The premise is simple: potters make bowls and then sell the bowls with
soup in order to raise money for a hunger charity.

The studio would like to participate in this worthy project. During the
week of January 17th the Berkeley Art Studio will be open for people to
come make bowls. The studio will donate clay and glazes. If you want to come and make some bowls with us please let me know or call ASUC art studio :-)

And I will be in studio on Jan,18 and 19th. If you have time please come join us for this meaningful event.

Tomorrow is last day of the year, look back this year I am really thankful for everything

And I have been thinking what I can do to give back.

So I decided donate some money to animal organization that help with animal and environment.

But it become really hard for me to pick which one?

WWF or the Nature Conservancy?

I did some research for it.

so I checked their webstie and Charity navigator

and their review came out about the same.

In the end I pick WWF for this year, next year I will try the nature conservancy.

The reason I picked WWF is because they have something call Panda Page.

which can be a donation page for people comes to my page wants to donate money to WWF.

well...I still have to learn about that little bit more before I can really talk about it :-P

anyway, next year(in two days) I want to do more!!

not just for my pottery, but for animals too!

Last weekend was our 4th winter open studio!!

It was a lot of fun and a great turn out! we had many friends that came to sale with us

also it's great we get to hang out and chat!

I was so happy to hear from some of the shopper that get my shows information from my blog.

For really long time I thought just my family and friends reads my blog, but from my last couple shows

people tells me that checking my blog is how they know where to find me!

Awhile back I got invited to be part of the 50 Gravy boats show

As soon as I got invited I made 4 different gravy boats. And only these two made it to my final list.

This shows have many artist that I really look up to so I was really exited,

Hopefully I can get some good responds.

also this is a really good exercise for me to make a form that I never worked before,

really open up different possibility for my work.

so I made a couple more after the first batch and it's totally different from the first batch,

so from two gravy boat Jason and other friends pick the first one (yellow glaze)

everyone think the yellow glaze looks better, even though I like the second gravy boat better

but I have to agree with my friends...

Anyway, I can't wait to see all the awesome gravy boats,

Once upon a time: teacher and student

I was surprised to notice that I haven't update my blog for awhile...

so I thought just to share what I saw last week in Trax gallery

last week was the opening for their show "Once upon a time: teacher and student"

it is John Neely from Logan, Utah and Forrest Lesch-Middelton from Petaluma, CA

I always admire John Neely's work and his skill making such a well function teapot with simple form but with strong present. I was so happy to be able to see his work in person, too bad I couldn't afford it...

And Forrest Lesch-Middelton's work is so well done, you can also see he have a strong influence by John Neely but still be able to put his own idea and evolve the form.

I was not able to take many photos because the room was so packed...

the show still up till Nov,7 if you miss it. you should go!!!

thinking of holiday...

I have been working in my studio little bit more now after the crazy summer camp is over.

I have been thinking about my pricing.

all my work are about $30+

so many people don't want to spend that much money all at once .

and I don't want to lower my price either because I put in so much time into each pieces.

so I decided to make a line that is smaller so people can afford my work.

anyway, I am still testing out my idea and see how they will come out.

and these are the "shot cups" hope people will like them :-)

Last weekend in Fort Mason was the event for Ceramics Annual of America

I was really excited to see all the different artist and their works.

Many of my friends are in the show,so it made the trip even more special.

Above is Juan Miguel Santiago's work, which I really really LOVE,

the surface, form and idea is just so right on.

Herb & Dorothy

I recently watched a documentary call "Herb & Dorothy"

it was really inspiring to watch.

Chronicling the story of unlikely art collectors Herb Vogel and Dorothy Vogel, filmmaker Megumi Sasaki demonstrates that it's not necessary to be wealthy in order to build a significant collection in this fascinating documentary. A postal clerk and a librarian, the Vogels share a passion for art, which they pursued over decades, becoming two of the most important collectors of minimalist and conceptual art with more than 4,000 pieces.

It really open up my mind of collect the work that I thought I can't afford it.

Now most of Jason and mine collection are mostly smaller pottery functionalware

maybe... it will start to change soon....

I LOVE my iphone,

because I love taking photo of random stuff all the time

and it's not so great to carry camera with me the whole time (because of the weight)

so iphone fix that problem for me :-)

anyway, I just want to test out the picture quality of the iphone

so I just want to post it and see it!

and these are my last batch before I took a break

(because of the crazy summer camp, so can't make anything right now)

If they looks okay online, I might just use my iphone for all my etsy photos.

half way summer report

well....after all the craft show and summer camp, really tired me up

but after two weeks of watching endless youtube taiwanese TV and getting a iphone

I am all feeling better and ready to make more work :-)

Last week whole week I was helping Jason setting up his show in college of Marin

It was a lot of hard work, we paint the pedestal, sanding pieces, touch up wall and many more.

but in the end it is totally worth it!!

well...while I was there, I took many photos with my new toy(iphone)

but still have to organize it before I put them on :-)

and sorry for not posting any Jason's work,

because he don't want people to see his work till the artist reception

(Which is Sep,1 Wednesday from 7-9pm)

Renegade Craft fair

This weekend is my first year in Renegade craft fair.

I was really excited about this fair because I always come to Renegade to shop and every time I found something awesome.

this year I become one of the vender, it was really awesome and fun.

and I meet some more people, and one of them put me on their blog

also many friends came by and check out my stuff.

and my booth is really close to the back exit, so I keep want to check out the view outside.

It was a really beautiful weekend.

Pacific Grove Art Center show!

This friday me and Jason went to Pacific Grove for our art opening

and the show is in down town Pacific Grove (really close to Monterey)

It is a group show of bay area artist, mostly clay work.

because of my crazy schedule in summer time

so I took out my old sculpture that I made before I switch over to pottery

I made this piece two years ago, It good I get to see it out of the box.

anyway, the trip to the opening was really fun and the space is so awesome.

we all get to hang out in the end and had a wonderful day by the ocean :-)

now, after the relaxing day, I need to start to prep for the Renegade this coming week.

Lately all my time was taken over by the summer camp

so I didn't have any extra energy to cook or clean up the house

Luckily Jason got time!!

I love taking photo of food, especially home made food.

and Jason cook all these meals. Yumm...

First pictures is the roast chicken and gravy, so good!

next morning is egg and hush brown, OMG!!!

I LOVE hush brown!! so damn good.

also we have chill, it was good!

and yesterday morning we have blueberry pancake!!

Soooooo good!!

I am so lucky that Jason love to cook, guess busy is good so I don't need to cook at all :-)

Summer camp time!!

I was crazy busy this couple weeks, because

The school is out!! that means summer camp for me!

This summer I am working in two different camp

one is studio one and another one is parkday school summer camp

all these photos are from the parkday school summer camp

and the picture below is one of my favorite piece in this camp

everyone get to do a story plate, they can either pick a story they like or make up a story.

and this particular plate is the toy story 3, she made woody and buzz light year.

So adorable!!!

This is a great summer camp. And in the end of the week they have to present their art work.

because they have sewing class, they get to do a runway show!

It's Soooooooo adorabel!!!!

and I tough many kids to draw sock monkey, and this guy loved it!!

so he drew on the bag that he made, soooo cute!!!

a lot of kids draw with me during the play time, and I got so many of cool drawing

but I left them at camp (because I was rushing cleaning up...)

If I get it back I am going to post it so you can see how awesome some of the drawing are!

anyway...

Last weekend was our first week of open studio.

I have many people that came just to see my work, I was so flatter!!

For many years I have done the open studio with Jason but this year was very special for me!!

Because I got people that came just for my work!

I never though I would have anyone that would came just to get my work, but this year...

it happened!! It made me feel so special!!!!

I am a big fan of his work, can't wait to see him work and hear what he said about his work.

I also really wants to go to Molly Hatch's workshop, she does awesome surface design

I bet I can learn some new trick from her, but it's too bad I just don't have enough money and time to sign up both of the workshop... anyway, if you live in bay area, you should check out both of their work.

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots movement aimed at fighting hunger. Students of skyline college and many different artist have donated handmade bowls for a simple meal of soup and bread, provided by Pacific Dining. Last Thrusday, I went to Gravel and Gold in San Francisco

For those didn't know about this place, you should defiantly check it out!

Gravel and Gold is really cool boutique in San Francisco, most of the stuff they carrie are hand made. (that including my work :-)) they also have all different kind of workshop, you can check it out from their Blog.

Anyway, I brought some of my work to the store because the 7x7 magazine help out my sale in the store.

I am really luck to be in this awesome store, because the owner really care about the seller and the quality of the work.

Yesterday was my children's wheel class in Studio one and I was excited to see my students.

When two of the girls saw me they came to me with a big hug and gave me this hand made card..

It was such a simple action that really moved me, makes me feel so good to be these kid's teacher.

I just want to share this moment, it was so sweet and I feel so special!!!

Two weeks in Taiwan

I haven't update my blog for a while is because

the past two week, I was in Taiwan visiting my family.

Two weeks pass by so fast that I couldn't even believe it.

When I was in Taiwan it was also my dad's birthday, so the whole family went out to celebrate.

we also took a short trip in Taiwan, since I am always in US so it's hard to get a family photo (but I am not in this one). So this trip we got tons of photo.

I also get to hang out with my niece, she is 14month old, and this is the second time I seem her so I really enjoy spent time with her.

And play with all the pets that we have in Taiwan, cats and dogs.

and of course...the best part is the food.

Two weeks just seems to short. But I have to come back to teach :-(

and get back to studio.

Anyway, that's why I haven't post anything new :-p

Today when Jason got home he gave a package...

It's from 7x7 magazine :-0

last month Cass form Gravel and gold told me that I will be in the magazine.

I was so flatter!!

And here it is!! My work in the megazine :-) I am in two of the pages :-o

oh, I am in heaven!!

This is a huge push for me, I was feeling little bit under motivate because I spent most of my time in teaching. But now I am ready to go back to studio :-)

I know I haven't post my blog for a while but I have good excuse...

I have been teaching high school kids for over a month now!!

It's s special program that work with studio one, so I get to be these kid's teacher for two months.

and I have three more class left with these kids, times fly and I know when it's done I will miss them a lot.

these pictures is shoe project, it is our last project, I know they really enjoy the class because they become really quite in the class and just want to work on their shoes.

In the beginning of the class, they have hard time to figure out what to do, but they have improved so much and they got a lot more focus and better understanding of how to work with clay.

It's a great feeling that I feel my student really learned in my class, it's totally different satisfy feeling when you make work in your studio.

I will miss them for sure, but also glad that I will finally able to work in my studio again :-)

Can't wait to see them finish their shoe :-)

Finally I tell myself is time for a new posting.
I keep checking other blogger and see their new posting but just couldn't pull my self to do a new posting, because lately I have been pretty busy with teaching. (well...that will be another posting)

well, here are two cups that I made for the two different custom order.

First one is for Josie Jurczenia, we trade our work last year at CAB+ show. I got a awesome pitcher from her, so I made this for her. (it's for her daughter's birthday gift:-))

and on this cup owl says "sun is up, time to go to bed..."

And the second cup is for my student from ASUC art studio.
She took my class awhile ago and she contact me end of last year
ask me if I can do a camel mug for her, and here it is!!

and this camel says "I am a noble camel, very proud."

I really enjoy making custom orders, I think because I get to know who is going to use them and I know they are going to a good home :-)

OMG!! I got nominated!!

Today when I check my email, I found out I got nominated for the ceramic artist category on the poppytalk's handmade Awards Event.

OMG!!! I was shock!! (happy shock of course) not only because I got nominate but also nominated with many clay artist that I really respect, like Ayumi Horie, element clay studio, Future Retrieval, Kieffer ceramics, Rae Dun and Whitney Smith. I know I have been lazy lately, I haven't post anything since last year.
Everytime when I use computer I always tell my self, I should update my blog
but it just never happen. But today, one of my friend post something on his face book that just really inspiring to me. so I want to share this with you.

This morning I was talking with Noelle and
we were thinking what we have done this year.
And I started to think...

last year this time I quit Leslie and decided to work on my art more

I did couple craft fair and shows
also I found out I really love teaching.

Last weekend was so awesome!!
Because whole weekend just playing and no work!!
Especially don't need to worry about shows and open studio, ahh...so great :-)

anyway, Saturday is a very productive day for me.
I went to Takemi's open studio. He had a great set up for his pottery.
also I met Rokco!! He is Takemi's dog, so cute!!!

here are some photo of his work, and they are so nice and affordable!!
and I got a really nice vase!

after that me and Sara and Noelle went to the renegade craft fair in the city.
I bought some of the Christmas gift there, it's so cool!!

after the renegade, me and Noelle went to Compound gallery to check out the Holiday show

I just love their set up, I just love this gallery :-) everything is so cute!!

and that's not it!!

I also went to Ben and Sara's (different Sara) house for a music party.
I LOVE Sara's song, she is so great at making music!!

she was in two bend that night, both are so differnt but so cool in differnt way :-)

that's my Saturday! It was so packed with so much fun!!

Wow, what a weekend...
Last weekend is our second weekend of open studio
also is my Bazaar Bizarre in San Francisco.
So I have to do the set up all without Jason's help ;-(
Lucky, I change my display so everything can fit in my car!!

And this is where we sale in San Francisco, it's really nice and warm inside
also we have DJ the whole time (he rocks!!)

So this is my set up! and I can hide behind the shelves :-p

And I am so lucky that I am vending with Chanda, she is the one help me with EVERYTHING!!!
she teach me everything about the show's and also help me during the show!

And here is Chanda's boyfriend Chris! He is totally my savior!!!
he will come and help me just with a phone call, also help me pack up my car!!!
They are the BEST!!! Thank god I have them :-)

well, the show have lots of people coming and look and I got lots of good feedback
but since my items are in higher price range so my days are kind of slow.
so most of time I just play with my ruby's cube and cell phone or draw...

anyway, the best thing about this kind of show is trading with other artist!!
This is Erin and her mom!! we trade our work!! I got the pillow that she is holding in the picture.
It's so cute, I love it! and when Jason saw it, he said it is a really good trade!!

Also I trade with Laura, she made some awesome jewelery. It's very sculpture!
I really like it a lot, when I have money, that's something that I want to buy...

so that's my weekend! It's a lot of work to do this kind of show, but it's also very rewarding because you get to talk to other artist and people who appreciate your work.

anyway, now I am just happy that I can relax and catching up play farmvile (facebook game...)

Winter Open Studio

It's that time of the year again....
Holiday season, also is our winter open studio.
Last weekend was our first weekend of two, we have some friends over to show with us
so we can hang out and selling in the same time ;-)

This year we invited Mikeal from Bicycle coffee company
He roast these coffee locally, and it's goooooood!!!

so we drink coffee the whole day ;-)

COLD.....so damn cold....

Yesterday was the CAB+ show, It was a huge ceramist party!!
I had so much fun just to see all the cool artist and see cool works.
And here is our (me and Jason) set up, as you can see the background is bags of raw material
this show was in Leslie Ceramic's warehouse. Anyway, I had smile on my face whole night

The reason why is------------(drum roll please.....)
I made a trade with Christa Assada!! she wants to buy my plate.
I was so flatter!! She is one of the potter that I really admire!!
(there is Bob and Josie)

I also made a trade with Josie! And Bob Brady bought one of my plate too!!
that really mean something to me, people that I look up to recognize my work

(Chanda the panda :-) so cute!!)

for me that is priceless,
I know I still have long way to go to become a kick ass awesome potter
but I know will keep trying!!

CAB+ and Holidayland

Today is my day off so I can stay home and clean my house (or watch tv whole day)
And I need to get ready for CAB show that is tomorrow night, and this weekend's open studio.
anyway, this Friday is also the first Friday event in Oakland so you can stop by the compound gallery too!!

Friday, December 4th from 5pm - 10pm Ceramic Arts of Berkeley (CAB+), hosts their first event, a ceramic art show and sale with over 48 artists working in clay from the Berkeley California area. Support local artists this holiday with a gift of art, the sale will be located at Leslie Ceramic Supply, 1212 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley, CA! Also 10% of the purchase price will be donated to the Martin Luther King Jr. middle school.

Today, I went to Julia's workshop in Bedford gallery
It was the best workshop EVER!!!!!!
It's not about the techniques or tricks, It's just so cool to meet the artist
and understand how they reflect them into their own work.

I was just so happy the whole time, because I agree on most of stuff that she said.
And she is just so awesome!! there is no other word to describe her!!!

Me and Jason are lucky enough to get select into the show, It is such a honer !!!

I also meet Jess Parker!! I love her work as well. I think she is really under appreciated.
I wish can see her work more!!

there are lots of good pieces in the show, and Julia explain why she like to get multiple pieces from the same artist, so people can understand the body of work from the artist.

And here is mine!! She talk briefly about my work. I was just so overwhelm that I didn;t even remember what she said about my work....I really wish I can be her student...
anyway, Julia Galloway she kick ass!!!!

Seems like I done it again...over eaten
(is that right? sounds strange, maybe is just over eat...)
It's impassible to work in the studio when you have too much food in the tummy.
So I decide to work on some ear rings, and use the beads that I made.

I haven't touch my beads for awhile so I have to look for everything
especially with huge amount of food in my tummy made me extra slow today...

I made my beads couple months ago.
I like how they turn out but it's just take me too long to make anything.
so finally I got some time for it tonight so I made a couple set,
here is one of the set.

after working in beads it really made me wanted to go to studio and make pots.
I guess I lost my patience with jewelry making!!
anyway, can't wait to go back to studio and work tomorrow!!

I still haven't put in my open studio info yet, but I will...

so I have been trying to get in studio more.
hope I can catch up with my shows.
And I have made some teapots, mugs and cups.
The usual stuff...

But while I was working in the studio, I just want to make something fun.
So I made some beer stein!
I am not sure how it would look or how good it will feel.
so I guess we just have to find out when is all finish :-)

Today is a really full packed day, which I enjoyed a lot
Since I love taking photos and not so good with words...
here is my day goes..

Beautiful day in Oakland, Noelle pick me up to go to the farmer's market
I love this farmer's market, always full of life and surprises,
check out the drawing of how to cut out a pomegranate
so cool...and check out this veges, it's taro roots. only a dollor each!!loves these beat up boxes...and this drawing makes me smile ;-)I was just so happy to see all these color pattern in the market.

After the farmer's market, Noelle and I drop off our work for Holidayland in Compound galley
It was soooooooooo cool to meet Lena. (gallery owner) I have to write about that other time.

Cats!!! I went to Ben and Sara to get my first guitar lesson, it was so much fun.
they are really really good teachers, I can't wait to have other lessons!!!Because I enjoyed my guitar lesson so much, I almost late for my class in studio one :-p
but made it just in time!!!

Guess what? after class...more cats!!! I am in haven :-)

we went to Tiffany's new house, it's such a fun time to hang out with old friends and catch up.
I can't believe I did all these in one day, it's a really FULL day. I really love this feeling...
work,play,work and play

Now it's midnight, but I want to work in studio...

Trio of Oakland potters Part II

after the show (we actually sneak out before the show ends...) we went to get some basque food
OMG!! It was LOTS of food!!! And Mike's niece fall a sleep on the dinner table..she is so cute!!

And after the gallery hours, we went to crystal palace to have a drink. (except me)
It is a really cool place, if you like country music...you will love it!

Trio of Oakland potters Part I

This Friday, Nov.6th is Jason, Noelle and my show's opening in Bakersfield.
We all are really excited to see how the show will turn out.

It was a really beautiful day, I was amazed by the weather and the sight that I see on the way to Bakersfield.

Objects of Virtue

Yeah!!! I just found out I got in to "Objects of Virtue"

It is a National juried exhibition of functional pottery show in Bedford gallery

What really made my day is that I got pick by Julia Galloway.
I LOVE Julia Galloway's work. Her work is amazing!

Clay hands

Today is Halloween, so I thought to post something scary~

so here it is... my hands :-p

the other day, I saw my hands and I thought I should show to other people!
I love this kind of pattern. Especially the clay really bring out the cracks in my hand

I know if my mom saw this she would shake her head and say " are you a girl? or a man?"
Most of the Asia girls that I know really took care of their skin really well and always put lotion on their skin all the time.

For me, I'm kind of proud of it. It's shows I really use my hands ;-)
Also it really looks like my back ground texture that I put on my pots.

I am not sure if you can see the back ground texture that I am talking about ;-p ( I think you might need to click into the picture)
anyway...this is one of my new bowls. And Happy Halloween too :-)

warm apple pie

This weekend Jason and I went back to Santa Cruz for his friend's wedding. It was a really nice beautiful weeding, and this wedding didn't have wedding cake. But instead they have more than 20 different kind of pie!! It was so awesome!!

anyway, after that I just want to make pie... and what a good timing!
Bob's apple trees are all ready for picking!! and we pick and pick and pick

Damn...apple tree produce tons of apples!!! we only been picking for 15-20 min and we got all these box filled with apples

Since Jason and I not a big fruit eater and Bob don't have time to make Juice this year
so all the apple are going to food bank(or something like that)
And with Bob's home grown apples, tonight I made my first apple pie in my life :-)

(those are Jason's chubby fingers)
all I do is get the receipt form internet and my frozen pie crest

after an hour baking and hour cooling, all the work pay off!
It was good! not awesome but pretty good.
I think my next pie I will try to make my own crest.

Last weekend, me and Jason spent our Sunday on the road

we need to deliver our pieces to the Bakersfield show

Both of us haven't take road trip for a while, and it was fun :-)

we even get to eat some ice cream!! this is our first time to go to Foster!!
It was so good for long drive :-)

It cool us down and give us some sugar high! that's what we need for the long drive ;-)

After four and half hours, we finally there!! The gallery is sooooooo cool!!!
and we get to catch up with Yvonne and get to know Vicky

because we both need to work next day, so we couldn't hang out too long!!

New work for Bakersfield show

About a month ago, I got a special order from a customer.

She told me that her and her boyfriend's mascot is snail
(there is some inside joke ;-p I won't share, haa...)

so she wants me to make some snail mugs for her. And it turn out really nicely!!

I love working in my studio in the morning time.
The sun lid up my studio, it just fell really welcoming :-)

I know my studio is not very neat...but this is how I work :-p
anyway, this week I have to glaze my work...it's my least favorite part of making work
I guess because I haven't get it figure it out yet

well...I am going to have a kiln load out today, and we will see how it look
(cross your finger for me)

oh, and this batch is for a group show in Surface gallery
I can't wait to see my work in the gallery!! yeah!!

Trip to Bonny Donn

Last weekend we have a long weekend - Labor day

so we decided to go back to Bonny doon

Bonny Doon is where Jason grow up. I always love to visit

It is just a beautiful place :-)

And Jason's dad is a great at working in his garden

Everywhere I see just beautiful color and shape

also a lot of yummy home grown food ;-)

I could just spend whole day in the sun to take photos

and I found something very cool!! This piece of wood looks like a piece of bacon!!

so I call it bacon wood, I loves it!! It is a outer layer of tree, so cool!!

I almost brought it home with me, I was going to give to my friend Ginger

because her boy friend LOVES bacon...

anyway, this short trip is just what I need it

now I have all the new energy to work in my studio ;-)

After a month of summer camp

I finally have time to work in my studio

This month I have been working with couple different Oakland Rec center

Mostly for art summer camp programs

It was really fun to work with many different kids, that teach me to become a better teacher.

The past week I have been teaching in in Monclair rec center

I am the art summer camp teacher, and I teach puppet making!!

It was so much fun to talk to kids, it's amazing they have so much energy
and they have lots of cool imaginations and ability to draw very freely

It was really fun and cool job to do for summer

I'm sure I will miss them because we spent whole weeks together

but I am also looking forward to have more energy to work on my own studio ;-)

anyway..I can't believe August is almost over...

I need to start working more in my studio!

I promise next blog posting I will have some new work :-)

This Friday I have a visitor to my studio!
She is a store owner from San Francisco (Gravel and Gold)

And this is a awesome shop on the 21st street,
So now, you can go visit my work in San Francisco!! Yeah!!

I am also on her maker's page which makes me feel like a star :-p

anyway, can't wait to finish my last summer camp next week so I can start working in my studio again!!!

Yesterday I was so grumpy...
because my kiln didn't fire off, which means all my glaze are HALF way fired
and this is what it looks like

I know what you think..."oh, it doesn't looks too bad!"
But I think my camera didn't do the justice on this one.
so I got my best-worst example

Check out this one!!

It's so bad that I really like it, I think I will keep this one the way it is

and maybe make a sculpture out of it

anyway, now I need to pack up all the pots and re-fire them in San Francisco
oh...wish me luck, because you never know if the second firing going to save them or kill them..

Summer time

I LOVE go to farmer's market
especially to the one by the China town in Oakland
It's the BEST farmer's market ever!!!

Their vendor's price are good, and have so many different variety of food

Now, with warm weather and lots of food in season, it is just a treat to go and see all different food.

Not only you can see all the food, you get to smell them too!!
you can smell flowers, herbs and many yummy food!!

anyway, this week I got luck that I talk Jason into go to the market with me

I had so much fun because I got to take all these photos and shop at the same time without carrying any of my purchase!! haa~

anyway, when is the last time you went to farmer's market?

If you want to go, I am always available :-)

Dealer's Button

Most of my friends knows that I LOVE poker.
Even though I am not a great poker player, but I love the game of poker.
and it just happen someone ask me to custom make dealer's button.
But this dealer button is a dog tag for a doggie name "Button".
and here she is!! (I think is a she...)

She is sooooo cute!!!

And here is her button (dog tag). Too bad in the photo I can't show the back side, it have her name and phone number. This is the first time I mad dog tag, it was fun!!

Anyway, I hope Button loves the button that I made for her!!!

Wow... time goes by so fast...
It's almost been a month that I haven't work in my studio. (shame on me:-()
I am not sure why? maybe is the weather? It's just so nice out side the whole time,
why would I stay in the studio??Anyway, finally I got my self into the studio for few hours today! Yeah!!
and I was happy that I did that,
because that reminded me how much I miss working in my studio.

here are some new stuff that I am working on--big latte bowls (with handle).
I really enjoy making them, it was nice little break from the shape.
anyway...time to go back to my studio now :-)

Yeah!! Me and Jason finally give in and pay for our internet!!
Now I can do more updating for my ETSY and my blog

The last month was really busy,
I don't even know how we both mange to do it all

well, it kind of a lot to list out what we did in the last couples weeks
I think picture is worth thousand word(or million?)
so here are couple pic of the Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker's faire

I had a lot of fun! there are so many people that I can't go walk around to see all the fun stuff!!the organizer was really awesome, they even prepared snack for all the vendors!
anyway...it was a two days event, and I had lots of fun also learned a lot form the shoppers :-)

The weekend after the Bazaar Bizarre it was Jason and my open studio!

we also have Noelle Nakame came over to show with us!!

and this year's open studio was a great success!
now two weeks after open studio, I am finally ready to make more new work!!!
Can't wait to go back to studio and make more pots!!

I got in to the Bazaar Bizarre(maker's fair)!!!

if you don't know what is Bazaar Bizarre you should check it out. It is pretty cool!!

Anyway...so I have been working a lot in my studio

as you can see my small studio fills up pretty fast...

Since spring is here, I guess is time to do some spring cleaning

so...I start with my cell phone :-)

I love taken random photo, if I have a small light camera

I would take picture ALL the time!

anyway, so I finally download the pictures from my cell

and here are some animals photos

This photo was taken last winter, and this cute little dog is Keyko's (my student at Japan town) Sheba

her name is Pochi, since Keyko just had baby so she can't come to my class anymore

so I haven't see Pochi for a while...

and this cool dog's name is Rocky!!
He is Megen's dog, I haven't see Rocky for a while too.
Megen have take Rocky to his parent's house because she is going to grad school

oh...I miss Rocky too

and this kitty's name is Stanly.
He was abandoned by my neighbor.
I let him come in some time when he is around, he is a really sweet cat

But he is gone too... some one adopt him
I miss him but I think he is happier with a good home:-)

and this is Basko (I think I misspelled his name)
he is Tiffany's cute kitty!! this was taken at Tiffany's house with the sock monkey that I made for her!

This Sunday I woke up really grumpy, Jason want to cheer me up so he made me the

It was so good...Thank you Jason :-)

After 20min....

So good.... But I was still grumpy...
So I went to Alameda flea market ( because I need some idea for display my work)

It was totally worth a trip, I tried really hard not to buy anything
because I don't want my display to mismatch
anyway... now is Monday
look back on Sunday, I really had a really cool day :-)
(even though I was grumpy the whole day)

Today I wake up in a different kind of mood,

I just realize that my slipper is really beat up and dirty

so I guess is good time to change my slipper

I got this cute slipper last Christmas from Laurie

I didn't want to use it, because it is so cute.

Anyway, I think today will be a good day to start use this slipper

because it just gave me a little inspiration for my work
